Upon being profiled in Town and Country magazine as one of Chicago’s notable hostesses, Lois, through the Hearst Corporation was introduced to the endeavors of the Chicago Literacy Program and lent her support.  She was a member of the Gastro-Intestinal Research Foundation (GIRF) associated with the University of Chicago Hospital, and served as co-Chairman of its Annual Fundraising Ball.
